First time using this forum and had a quick question for you MPC geniuses out there.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to replicate the vocal filtering that the likes of 9th Wonder use. He makes the vocals sound sightly watery and they dissappear into the track.

An example of this is 'Made You look' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDS5Xn_1KCQ

Can anyone help?

Thanks

If you're using a decent daw, you should be able to access some type of dynamics or an effect like chorus or something.

That's just a low pass filter he bunged on the vocal.

It really just depends on each specific situation. Reverb can make something seem further away. Delays and phazers can add a trippy effect. Even just playing with different filters can really make things move.

Automation is a must

There's really no right or wrong way to go about things. If it sounds good it is good. I encourage you to just play with effects until you find something you like.

Thanks - I'm going to mess around with it for a while.

I wasn't sure, which particular effect I should have been tweaking, low pass filter, phasers e.t.c.

Cheers
