"Stutter"/"Bouncing Ball" Effect on 3K?

Do any of you guys have tips on how to go about what is called the Fibonacci rhythm? I'd like to have a sample speed up or down during a sequence, i.e play something like this 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34 or the other way around etc. I know this is possible with step edit but it takes forever and I always get lost in that screen. I used to do it on an Akai S3000, just making the sample loop and shorten the loop length as it plays but that's not an option on the 3K.

Any interesting techniques?

How about posting an example of what you mean?

Just imagine a basketball being thrown up in the air. Each time it hits the ground it does so in shorter intervals right? That's how I want to program a sample to play.

But do you want the actual sample to speed up OR do you want the interval to speed up OR do you want both?

Well here's a thread which discusses the Alchemist 'stutter' effect.

You can speed up the interval/ resolution manually by gradually decreasing the intervals during programming. For example you could start with 1/4 notes then 1/8 notes followed by 1/16 notes and 1/32 possibly even going as far as 1/64. If you don't want the samples to overlap itself, set the polyphony to 1.

Just experiment with it, making music is supposed to be a voyage of discovery.

Thanks for the link, but the 3K doesn't have sample looping, that's the problem.

I'm mainly interested in the intervals. I understand what you wrote about gradually decreasing the time resolution, but doesn't that only work when you have several notes for each resolution? Anyway it won't be smooth enough.

Guess step edit is the only way to go.

if you want it to be 'accurate', cant you program it in a DAW, then trigger it via midi?
