taking drums out

Hey guys i wanted to know how exactly do u take the dums out of a sample or fade them out. I'll give you an example. I recently bought Damu the Fudgemunk's How It Should Sound Vol. 1 & 2, in the intro there are some horns and u can hear the drums but they're really faint. i wanted to know what are the proper techniques on how to do this?

I believe its the radio effect.

I second that. But to make things clear, the "radio effect" is (like the "telephone effect") nothing more than a filter. Since the MPC2000 is Damus weapon of choice and the EB16 FX board got a EQ section that work more like 4 filters than an EQ I think he did this with the EB16. Its about focusing on the horns frequencies. So cut the bass, raise the mids (ca 500-2000) and cut the highs if necessery

If the snares are still too loud you can also slice the sample on the snares and then mess around with the ATTACK parameter of the pads. Sounds like this (first original then filtered and with an attack parameter value

Great info peter! im guessing you own a 2000 lol. I have a 2500 so im guessing the Band Filter should work best?
