mute group function

ive faced this problem quite a few times,im familiar with muting different sounds recorded within the same track ,ie muting the hi hats when the snare comes on. but what about muting different tracks altogether when a certain track plays ,like having 2 different melodies on different tracks,or muting the drums when u have a bongo drum playing on a seperate track,does the mpc 1000 have that function ?

Track Mute function. U can enter the track mute screen by pressing the Track Mute button which is located somewhere near ur bank buttons on ur mpc.
I don't know if ur running jjos, but with most versions u can also record a track mute arrangement.

yeah im familiar with the track mute screen ,i guess i didnt phrase the q properly ,what i meant to say was how do i make it happen automatically ,as in program one track to start when i stop another track....i guess its recording arrangements like u mentioned ,anyone know how to go about that?

It really depends on what kind of os ur running, but u just go to the track mute screen, press rec+play start on the transport panel and the sequence will record the track mute events and will play them back as programed.

Ever thought of making two different sequences in which you have the tracks muted or deleted that you do not want to hear? It feels like everyone on this forum makes a 4bar loop and then just starts hitting trackmutes....

Another option. That way I used to do it when I didn't had track mute recording on my mpc.
But track mute recording is way faster then copying the sequence, delete tracks and string them together in songmode.

i used to do that also ,but sometimes id just want everything to drop out on the last note of the 4th bar , mute everything but the last snare hit for example ,its quite a pain doing it manually coz ud have to go back and delete every last chop on every track ..id rather mute and unmute tracks live as the song progresses ,u sort of get that feeling of when one melody has played too long making it somewhat boring and redundant ,and when u wanna add something new that beefs it all up

Well you got two options, either do it manually or be damn quick with the trackmutes.
