anyone down for a kind of battle

hey, I was thinking about trying to make a track using just drums, like dj shadow kinda style, really work on the drum programming. maybe someone could z-share a good break and a few or as many of us that want 2 could chop the break and see who can come out with a nice drum track?

This sounds interesting. I suggest we make a few ground rules for a little forum comp though.

For example:

Track Length - 3-5 minutes? Maybe even just say a 30 second rinse out?

Date for the comp to close: Say in a couple of weeks to give everyone a chance?

Uploads must be to a site that allows streaming?

A couple of people to judge?

Is layering with other drum hits allowed or is it strictly that break that we're manipulating?

etc...

well, I wasn't wanting it to be so serious I was just meaning to have a little mess about but I like the idea of competition, but 2 weeks?? I will have totally forgotten about this in 2 weeks? maybe 3 days? I was even thinking hand it in tomorrow but yeah whatever you guys wanna do is cool. One thing I would like to stick 2 though is that we are using JUST this break and ONLY the drums!!! even if you wanna bass line you need to do a kick loop or whatever.

The whole idea was more to practice skills on drum programming because I don't think I'm very goot at all

we should maybe make this a weekly thing (not just drums of course). They do it a lot over on cratekings but I like the fact that we are all using mpc's.

I never got round to starting it last night, ended up on a roof in the middle of Barcelona at a party, thats the last thing I remember hahah an today my headache is far 2 mad to even THINK about choppin a break!!! so I'll start an finish it tomorrow night.

if it works out good we should do it often, I don't know about anyone else but constant competition make me get better cos it's not like you wanna show the world a shit beat...

id like to try this, not much into competitions and not sure i can find the time in 3 days or remember it in 2 weeks, lol.. but if there is any drums uploaded id like to have a go and post the results wether the comp is finished or not.. i just like fun things like this
