Connecting a Rhodes...

i know there are a few ppl on here with a Rhodes... and i know there are a few way of connection them to you "set up"

my question is what is the most simple and cheap way to do it??

im trying to record it straight to my macbook then chop and dump the sounds with a zip into the MPC or sample it straight to the MPC... both ways work for me...

not going to work mate, you should probably pack that rhodes up and ship it to me. I am the only people world wide legally allowed to dispose of them

if you were the only "people" that allowed to dispose of them, then im sure you'd know shipping them is virtually impossible.

Had access to a friend's Mark I for a while. Lovely instrument.

Found that sampling straight into the mpc worked for me.

thats what im gonna try to do but im pretty sure you still need an amp or maybe a Phantom mic plug...

Yeah - getting the simplest parts for Rhodes pianos can be tricky. But a good quality amp and you should be set. Doesn't have to be a Fender Twin or anything.

considering the impedance of a rhode you should definitely use a DI box .
that said i once recorded one straight in a console line in and the result was nice

what kind of power cord you need? the power supply is internal right, you only need the cord?

thats the thing there is no power cord... its "electric" like an electric guitar... just need an AMP...

i got a DI box and tested it out... seems like the thing hasn't been tuned since it left the factory.

but thats good... you can choose by ear all the ASDR and over-drive.

having a mark 1 i can quite honestly say that having a good quality DI will do you know harm. however to truly get a vibe out of the rhodes, investing in a amp of some sort will only add to the quality of the instrument. The studio where I work has a variety of amps and heads so I am lucky in that respect but my particular favorites are a shitty peavy 10 watt practice amp with a SM57 in front of it or a beautiful fender valve custom 45 with either a Blue Ball or a big fat valve mic in front of it.
the peavy gives a very raw sound which works real well in rock tracks. The other gives that fantastic coltrane/mayfield vibe.

^^^ thank you, later on down the road i will eventually get some top notch converters and amp for it but for now im cool with the Pro DI box... just need it tuned and its set...
