I can stack up a good 20 tracks just in drums but that's with everything on seperate tracks.

I've done a few 100+ track projects but anything over 50 starts to become a nightmare to work on.

I did a track for some dumb broad that was like 48 tracks, some stereo..... it had a lot of effects and cuts... I will add that the song was 8 minutes long or so and the original version of the track didn't use that many tracks since it lacked a lot of the extra bits the extended version contained.

I think I try and compensate for not playing a 'real' instrument by adding lots of layers. I just don't always know when to stop.

I am trying to simplify the process at the minute though... my mixtape entry only had 62 tracks so I'm doing ok!

I don't really go over 20 tracks in the MP. When I've got a few variations on a groove I track it out and get busy in Cubase. I can comfortably see 30 tracks on my monitor without scrolling, so it's no real problem.

Using the MPC i was using 4 now using Live 8 i can easy conjure up 30 odd.

I think the most ever for me is around 10. I use a dps12 and don't really like mucking about w/ virtual tracks, so I try hard to stick w/ what is readily available. Plus it's fun to see how good of a bounce you can do. And how many before it sounds murky. Then again I like murk...
