Underground Drum Kits

Where is the best place to get drum kits? I'm looking for drums like MF Doom or Ant (from Atmosphere) for the most part.

you gotta get vinyl records, listen to the songs and wait for parts where there is a drum solo or a break where no other instruments are playing... then you sample those parts and cut them out into individual sounds to make your own beats.

thanks alot, that actually helps a lot. i'm really trying to go for an authentic sound. it's just tough getting all this stuff being a broke azz college student. any advice on turntables and mixers?

Come on man! I can understand if you needed help with software suggestions or something. tech 1200 turntable, maybe a turntable pre-amp or a mixer like vestax or something. Not tryin to be a dyck but google is your best friend pimpin!

my advice would be that if you just want it for sampling, not DJing, scratching or playing valuable, rare old records, any old crap will do

Along with chopping, grab a mic and record some things around the house. I layer everything in the sequencer.

also roxstar, that's actually my plan once i get my hands on a mic, one of my roommates has a drum set. that'll prolly be the first thing i record for samples.
