midi hook up done, but!

i got my midi keyboard hooked up to my mpc and can play sounds from it. But i want to assign 1 sound to the keyboard (like a sampled piano) so that i can play it like it is a piano (every key different tune of sound

help plz

Well there are a few things you could do.

1) you could make a program on your mpc with the individual notes of the piano sampled and arranged in cromatic order.

2) play a VST instrument, reason or giga studio on your computer via your mpc's midi out (assign which midi channel you want to output).

I wouldn't want to use 16 note for a sound like piano that needs to sound natural. 16 note is ok for synth stuff..

but whn i do auto chroo..my sequece sounds al **** up.

and still it sounds diggerent then wehen i use do tune option (so the mpc will divede it to the 16 pads.

if i make a auto chromo pgm, can i still record that stuff into let's say drum pgm 1 (the orginal seq's)

I'm having a hard time understanding what your problem is...

From what I understand you want to go the route of playing your chromatic program on the mpc and not with any out board gear, correct?

What I suggested was for you to make a new program with the notes assigned in chromatic order. This program is completely separate from any others loaded in the mpc. As long as you direct your track in the sequence window to the correct program you should have no problem play multiple programs together (ram permitting). You can assign programs to either of the 4 main banks or assign a pgm number to your new program and direct the track to that program by changing the setting right in the sequence window beside the "pgm:*" parameter.

To change the program number so the track will be directed to it, do the following..

shift programs (6) -- drum 1-4 -- use the jog wheel to find the program you want to edit -- hit open window on the name and change the program number (don't forget the number!)

To change the programs loaded in either of the four main banks, do the following..

shift programs (6) -- drum 1-4 -- drum

i just thought like the note variation on the MPC, i can do the same thing with the midi keyboard without creating a new pgm for it

Well then.. It's not possible to use a keyboard for the 16 note function without creating a new program.

Yah.. It's kind of a bummer I know but creating a new program gets the same effect.

Oh yah bro you can use a whole bunch of programs at once. Just refer to my earilier posts for direction on how to do it.
