New Beaties Boys Album

I don't know if any of you guys are into the Beastie's....but their new album is worth checking out. They do all the production and I must say that they really do a good job. They have always been known to push the limits of where things are at....plus the thing I like about them is that they still keep it straight with that old school east coast type of ish. They've been around for 20 years and to have that sort of longevity in this game earns them my respect.

It certainly isn't breaking any boundries but "new" doesn't allways mean better.

I haven't heard the album but the single is cool - sounds like 1995

damn! when are they going to quit?!?!? Mike D looks like he's 65...is he just waiting until 67so he can collect social security? I wish they would give up rappin and stick behind the scenes and produce some upcoming artist. I am fcukin sick of the beasties.

This is their first album in '99....how can you be sick of them? But hey, to each his own. I just brought the album up because I like their production and the way they put things together....plus I respect their longevity. There are so many flashes in the pan now it's nice to see a group that has lasted and stayed w/what works for them....to me I respect that, even if I am not their biggest fan, which I am not. They are some talented dudes and if they want to keep making albums every 3-4 years or so I'm fine with that.....I may not buy their albums, but every time I see them I'll be thinking of them right along with RunDMC and Rick Rubin.

I was happy with this album... Beastie's are back on that old school sound that has been lackin from their albums for a while...

some of it is good. but about half the album is crap. it should not take 5 years to put that out. the whole political vein mca has gone into is tiresome to say the least. no where near as good as hello nasty and ill communication. rappin about all lifestyles gettin along , what is this sesame street?

i dont really feel em like that..i respect them but anyother mc or group for that matter coming out spittin like its 85 would get no air play...but the white kids love em..just my 2 cents..dont wanna offend anybody..

Not so good, check it out is the only one that sounds like it was done on old gear, the rest really sounds like reason. They use the same reason preset snare in a few tracks. I saw an interview where mike D said he switched to computers cuz it is so easy and portable, and he has 2 mpc 2000's collecting dust. Coming from a former 60 user, that's some serious traitor ish.

Even the electronic sounds sound so plasticy and weak. Hello Nasty was much better with Ad Rock at the sp 1200 and lots of analog stuff banging.

I think computers make people lazy, and reason can be used well but seldom is.

yeah, i think computers can sometimes lead to laziness.
the album on a lotta tracks, sounds kinda weak. it is missing that soul and flavorful samples of their other works.
