clean up grimey drum breaks

Hey anyone got any tips on cleaning those grimey drum breaks up etc...

I use Cosmic Pimps Patented Drum De-greaser, and a bit of old cloth. Works wonders.

(Seperate the break into different tracks: kicks, snares, hats, rides etc..., and EQ each one to taste, group these to one buss and EQ the whole thing again to ensure it all still sound natural).

Lol , very funny thanks for the tips any soft ware you recommend for that i currently use fruity loops it is ok and i get the desired sound but i thought maybe their was a easier way
some time i feel i sacrifice to much of the grit on the drums ... thanks for the tips anyhow

Fruity is fine. It works with audio the same as any other DAW so it's irrelevant.

There is no EASY way. There are no short cuts. Just keep doing what you're doing. The more you learn what you have the easier it will become.

How? Filter 'em out?

I've always added the crackles, so I've never even considered the possibility of removing them.

yeah, i like when an old record pops and crackles in that peculiar way
sometimes i add some noises to a beat when it's too clean

remove clicks & pops on mpc....

goto trim, find the click/pop, highlight and delete selected portion..
also captain obvious will tell you keep the wave flowing.....

^^trim??? yes, but you have to use the znedit to delete portions you dont want. Too bad the MPC doesn't have an "auto zero crossing" feature.

Exactly. Keep in mind, I sample small, so this works great for me. For longer samples, I'll usually clean the record as much as possible...wipe the dust off the needle. I've found that trying to "clean" samples via software removes too much of the other frequencies. If the vinyl is too dirty, sample it from a cd. I've never had to add dirt to a sample since most of my collection is already dusty! haha!
