Which has better filters?

the mpc 1000 or 2000 0r 200xl?

im thinking of going to a 2000(xl) instead of my current 1000 simply because i really never use my computer that much with the set up i have right now and i planned to get one full blwon off of ebay.

-list any other samplers you feel have good filters

the filter on the 2xl is 'functional' at best- id get a dedicated unit like filter queen or a frostwave.....the mpc rules but the filters are a small part and for decent filtering id get a dedicated unit or an s5k....

The 2xl filter is not good.

The ensoniq ASR-10 and ASR-X Pro have some of this best filters and "tweekability". I use my 2000XL for sequencing, but I use my ASR-10 and ASR-X Pro for most of my samples..

what about about a akai Z4/8 sampler?

the s5/6000 has good filters, but nothing beats analog.

A friend of mine has an old EMU Emax racksampler. To my ears, those are the sweetest filters i've ever heard on a sampler.
You can buy these things for $100 now.

I use an emax rack, HD SE with SCSI zip attached. THe filters are great, SSM Analog filters, only low pass though. The key to it is the 28k samplerate, very Sp12.. and it stands out in the mix without overpowering it. everything sounds good on that thing.
