Dont think them numbers mean shiiiiiiiiiiiiit. What you tryin to formulate?
in the trim window, it has the length but it's only a number.
i guess it's the sample length of the entire editable recording, so it doesn't matter about the decay etc.
and it didnt take long.
60/(time X number of beats) = BPM,
so
(60/BPM) / number of beats = time
just try it.
get a sample that's 352800 in length (use trim). now if my number is correct, 352800 = 8 seconds. so if you loop it and say that the number of beats in that sample = 9 beats, then, if that number is correct for sample time, bpm should equal 67.5
i dont have my MPC with me here but i garauntee that's what will happen.

also it depends on the sample rate in your music.
If your .wav file is 44.1k then yes it has 44100 samples per second.
If it is sampled at a lower rate like 22k it has 22050 samples per second and so on.

And your point is?
You need to concentrate on how it sounds and stay away from them numbers![]()
Almost sounz interesting, but probably more hype over substance

hmm...ok then
i was just tryin to learn my MPC a bit more..never knew what the numbers for the sample length meant in terms of seconds.
i thought i met aswell share what i found out with the rest of the forum.

No you haven't. Make sample rate part of your formula. When you sample from a sample cd and you know the tempo of a loop, it's easier to calculate the endpoint then to do it by ear.
(beats x 44100 x 60) / bpm = endpoint (if startpoint is zero)
For example with a 1 bar loop of 160 bpm:
(4 x 44100 x 60) / 160 = 66150

Also if that formula works on a ASR 10 (which I think it should, because it is 44.1 khz as well) then you just gave me an idea for calculating bpm more accurately than tapping on the mpc "tap tempo"..
