Tha Right Sound

Hi to all. Allow me to explain my situation as best as possible, and in the shortest length. Im broke as hell. Got bills. Piched enough money together to get an MPC-2000XL. May sound framilia, if not, i give ya props. I dont have enough bank for a nice Triton Keyboard (which i would damn near die for), so im using a cheap Yamaha PSR GX76. It only has like 4 different low bass sounds, and none of them are what im looking for. What im looking for, is something i hear everyday on the radio or cd. For instance i dont know if any of you know the song by Field Mob, produced by Jazze Pha, but the bass in that song is exaclty what im looking for. If anyone would be generous enough to give me a sample or tell me where or how to get this sound, i would greatly appreciate it. Peace.

men..if you ar broke the MPC is the right thing for you!!..hook up a turntable to it..sample a sound who's is equal (no kick/claps/snare)...

set the filter off the sound to about 0 > 5
set the resonantie off th sound to about 10 >15 here you have yo self a tight bass

Not to sound overly obvious or anything, but if you have CDs with sounds you like, you can always sample off them, too. Sampling is sampling. It may not be digging but you found it.

tite tite....i appreciate all the info....you guys are F*ckin awesome. I hope to be that good soon. So if i got this right, you can actually sample off a cd on the mpc?....im assuming by hooking up a cd player to it via record in and using sample mode with the figues you guys gave me...??

yeah men..you can sample off any source you want from your tv to a cd player...you just gotta hook it up the right way!

My guilty pleasure is sampling off cds too sometimes or even downloading a song just for a part... shhh...

everybody should be ashamed of themselves... using cd's and shite.. nah fo real though.. if you have a computer, just coax some of your friends to give you , even the simplest ones have a sampler on board.. just cut and paste man.. cut and paste.. ( if you prefer cheating off some crapped out being, compressed the shit out of being, no soul havin, mp3s of course) also, while you're legally purchasing your studio programs, check out some of the virtual instruments they got.. i was skeptical at first but some of the doo doo is sick! like absynth for example.. just hook up a 10 dollar flea market casio with a midi connection to your computer and goddamn... who needs a triton..

One of the most basic and most often used sub bass sounds is a sine wave. I'm sure there are samples on the net (download Stomper). Go and buy some CD's that have that type of bass soloed. Also check out Eightball and Mjg "comin out hard albulm" There is a song where a sub bass is soloed.

A lot of inexpensive keyboards can have some good bass sounds too (I had a casio ctk 150), but most down south bass comes from either sine waves or 808's. Also try experimenting with sine, square, triangle, and saw waves from different analog and digital synths. Each sample has a different character.

Sample the sounds.
Chop them up.
Make a program.
And loop the sounds.

the easiest way to sample digitally is getting a cheap studio program (like acid) and just chopping it up on the computer. most have audio extract functions so you can just get a song or whatever off a cd or and mp3. just like the mpc.. trim and crop, zone and cut.. easy.. and then just save it as wave files and put in on a disk. i usually convert the channels to mono cause it saves on space... you can aways double up your sound if it needs a little beefing up..

Good lookin out richie, i appreciate the info. But what if i have that sound i want, but it has a F*ckin snare or kick in the backround overlaying it? One thing i always wanted to know, is how to take a regular song with lyrics over it, and make it into an instrumental? Thats very interesting to me, for me to know etc.. you cannot take any sound out of a recording completly. It's virtually impossible (unless you have the original master tracks but then again we wouldn't be having this discussion then would we?). What you can do is narrow in on those fequencies and cut them but the other sounds will suffer from this process. Even then there are traces of that sound still there no matter what you do. Some sounds might even be on the same fequencies as the sound you are trying to cut (snares and voices are around the same). It's a lost cause..
