First, welcome to the forums.

Second, get to know the search feature on this forum.

Third, here's what was previously discused about these two machines and how to do what you're asking.

thanks for the reply
i did try the search , nothing came up , but i did find your topic off the net, read it.

to create the midi type track on mpc. is this function under the 'drum' (see image i found off net) or do i have to use the sync/midi

and to create a midi instrument on asr10. (not sure how to )
i struggled with it , does it have anything to do with the system/midi button on the number pad ?

thanks

i will give it a lengthier try tonight

So basically you just want to use the asr as a controller. Midi out of the asr to midi in on the mpc.

On the asr go to "edit midi", scroll to midi base channel and change that to 1. Then on the mpc you load your samples and assign each sound to it's own track and correspond each midi channel from the asr to the track on the mpc.

I also think you'll need to change "type" from drum to instrument on the mpc in order for this to work properly.

That's the best I can do for you, so the rest is up to you to do.

The thread below will be of great use to you if you have an ASR-10.

When you have time go through the Production Techniques and Studio Environments forums, plenty of hidden gems buried in the older pages as the ASR was around when this forum began back in 2003.

(Go through the whole thread, or don't bother)
