Producing...pop?

I have taken a great interest in producing pop music for the last 2 years, but i can't seem to capture that...bouncy feel. I'm thinkin Katy Perry's "Fireworks" and almost any beat from Ke$ha (not saying I'm a fan, but i'm using these examples bcuz they contain the sound that I'm looking for)...can anyone give me some pointers or point me to some tutorials/videos/articles? All help is greatly appreciated

I've just had a little listen that katy perry track and a couple of kesha tracks.

Seems to me that some of the 'bounce' you may be talking about is coming from sidechain compression useage. Try using an aux send from your kick drum channel and feeding it into a compressor inserted onto your bass and/or synth channel. This'll make the bass/synth line duck when the kick hits, causing a pumping, bouncy sound. Obviously you'll have to experiment to get the best effect for your track.
This technique can make your kick hit louder and get that bounce whilst also molding all the sounds together nicely.

This is a very broad explanation of the technique, but just go experiment with it.

ooo ok! That's def a tip i will use....it sounds like this tactic will play a major role in giving me that sound I'm looking for! Anymore tips for pop production?

write an actual pop song on the piano/guitar before you go and make the beat
that's the approach i would take

Listen to the radio and use your ears.
