im ready!!

alright fam, i've finally made a beat that im somewhat happy with and need to get it on the computer. im currently recording right into ableton but dont know much about it, do you suggest tracking out each track on each sequence and then bring it all together? i dont see a place in ableton for any of that, i just see record under audio and then i press the play button in one of the boxes but im still a little confused

ok i did some more research and i dont want to 2-track my beats out because i feel like ill lose any control over additional changes to each track. i guess i will multitrack then, how would i go about this ableton?

lol well i've been through that, but ill be more specific about my issue.

i can record in but it'll all be off time, so i sync my mpc in with ableton. heres the problem, i have my tascam us122l with the midi ports, but when i go into ableton preferences/settings and go to the midi/sync section, theres nothing at all under midi. i followed all the instruction from www.akaipro.com/syncableton and its just not working out for me.

im on a mac if that helps and already re installed my driver for the tascam already, and i read that i dont need to touch the audio midi setup in utilities if my drivers installed alright.

There should be something there to slave your computer to the MPC and then you can record each of your tracks (two at a time).

Sounds like a problem with your tascam's drivers. First make sure you have the right drivers, (download the latest ones for your OS version from tascam's website, and try reinstalling them, shutting down the computer, and restarting. Then go to audio/midi setup (but like they say, don't touch any of the settings) and make sure you computer is recognizing the tascam. Live should automatically detect the MIDI port on the Tascam and it should show up in the list. If not, I can't help you from afar, but you may have to return the tascam or call their tech support.

Also, a bit ofpartially related advice. When you finally get your MIDI port working, use MTC sync to sync ableton and your MPC. Ableton doesn't do too well with MIDI clock sync. When using MTC sync, you have to manually set the two sequencers to the same tempo before you enable sync.

thats what i was worried about mp3. well under audio/midi, it shows up in the audio window, but when i change view to midi, there is nothing except Network and IAC
