Running samples thru Saturation/lo-fi/tape plug-ins before M

I cant afford any analog hardware units or tape machine but i wanted to run my samples/drums thru some saturation/tape emulation plug-ins before it hits my MPC 1000.Is this a good idea? i know i can do it after with inserts but my 1000 doesnt add any color when u sample in it and i want more of a warmer sound to work with in my machine.What plug-ins would u guys recommend and what would be the best way to go about this situation? THX.

just an example
you can record your beat/sound into a cassette tape deck then resample it in the mpc
this technique was used back in the days
or you can use an analog guitar fx pedal to tweak the sound then sample it with the mp

have you tried to overdrive your 1000 inputs? Hot signal will result in saturated and a bit distorted samples (In case of the 2000. This will probably work on the 1000 as well)

PSP Vintage Warmer is nice, as is Izotope Ozone 4.

Tape, valves and analogue require different processes.

Voxengo's Tube Amp is free and not too bad either. There is also Ferric and a ton of other tape and valve simulators. I'm currently enjoying PSP's MixSat2.

years ago i've used the Steinberg Magneto VST plugin, but i don't remember very well if it sounds good...

yeah I did mean vinyl....But Trash, Alloy and Ozone are free too (if you know where to look )

I moved from PC to Mac recently so I've been 'looking' and finding some good shit. Ozone and Waves were at the top of the list.

Ozone and Alloy are dope, and they are out there (MAC OSX), Waves is only working on PC.

I know where I can find 100 thousands of dollars worth of software "free" [warezed]. I could also steal a car, rob a bank or a granny, break in a villa... but I won't. I know I could. TBH I used to hunt for, test and use all new warez releases 10 years ago.
I stopped that habbit, still demo new interesting legit releases and bought only the ones that I really need. Some Softube, McDSP, Massey, iZotope, PSP, Arturia, AAS, NI..

Being warez doesn't make software free. Having all those warezed Waves Mercury, iZotope, Soundtoys, Softube etc. plugins in your folders won't make you any better at crafting your sound.. on the contrary: having too much options to choose from will hinder you.

Waves make some good shit but it's massively overpriced. I've been using their plugins for around 10 years, so sometimes it's worth just sticking with what you know.
