i was wondering, i have a multisampled bass that starts from a low c. so the the next pad is a c#(c + 10 semitone) in the program page it says the original name of the sound, can i change that after the fact to somthing different c#

If I understand your question right, I beleive that any program settings you make are referenced off of a specific sample. So if your bass sample is a C and then one pad up it is playing the sample a semitone up, it needs to reference to that same sample. If you rename it to another name it will look for that sample with the new name you gave and if it does not find it you will get nothing (or an error). I do not have a MPC2000 but every other sampler I have used works this way.
