i recently got my hands on a microKorg. i am able to get decent bass out of it but im just curious if anyone on here has any info or tips to get a real phatt punchy bass tone out of this synth. ive read a bit on programming analog bass but i wanna get that ummah, jay dee, q tip, type bass. that real deep and punchy bass.

any help?

thanks!

here are some fings that will send you in the direction of a good bass patch

- waveform of first osc depends on what bass you want. sin will be smooth, i like it. square/pwm will have some more texture but less oomf
- turn the second osc up, use tune to drop it an octave or two, set the waveform to triangle.
- go to voice mode and set it to "unison" instead of poly. this will make it use all the voices at once
- turn down the cutoff, turn up the res :)
- postprocessing -- EQ it, maybe run it through a cheap tube preamp

there might be some good waveforms for bass in the DWGS digital oscillator thing too. i usually can't be arsed to dig through them.
