SIR1
impulse reverb.. normally used to get the reverb sound of various places like this or that specific cathedral htat may have a nice sound..
BUT it is also a good tool for sound design as it allows you to load up any sample you want (though with a length limit to the sample) - and use that sound as a "room" that you can send your sounds through, meaning that you can kind of give your sounds a body it normally doesnt have...
little example in my sig.. where i sent my kick and snare through both a new snare and also a tom so that the snare bleeds it room over most hits and makes them blend in a certain way.. and then rides + hats had their own channel and where sent through a brushed snare and another snare that had more tone to (i used the tone of that snare to make the hats blend with the main kick and snare better) it.. you can hear the brushed snare work the hats in the beginning pretty clearly.. and since its frequency dependent it doesnt attatch its body to everything, and you can hear that too with the more higher frequency closed hats being more or less unaffected... so if you send a hihat through a tom sound, you would not get much bass from the tom, just the higher freq's if it has any, like the click etc.. as the hat will trigger the frequencies it has in common with the sample you send it through.... but many times a hat battern contains some bass, so sometimes you could just do a little boost and suddenly you have a tom pattern mixed up with that original hat pattern
