garageband

bought a mac laptop about 4 years ago and messed around with garageband for a lil saved up some money and bought an mpc1000. i was just wondering if anyone knows if you can hook up your mpc1000 and record your tracks into garageband and mix. i would assume not i have learned in life nothing free is usually good but if anyone has any information please let me no thanks

well take a look in the help file for info.. I never tried doing that the few times I messed with a friend's garage band so I dont know how... I have a few friends who have made heat on that program...

hey, if you are stuck.. you know what you could do for the time being? google search "audacity" ... that is a free program that works on windows, mac, and linux... it is 100% free.. you can record your mpc with it... you can edit a bit with it and cut up samples if you want. try it out, even though I have many many programs and pluggins.. I find myself always using that because it works 100% of the time with no choking and it is stable.

of course u can... but i got a better idea for ya ( oh yea, audio interface will be needed )

wrd up thanks for responding i do use audacity had no idea you can record in there thanks for the heads up and as far as logic pro being cheap i honestly pledged to myself that i wouldnt spend another dollar on my lil studio thang i got going on but lately ive been pumping out beats got real into it again so i might look into it

& thats comin from a ol'dawg thats has never thought he would ever use a software
to make dem beats

garageband is def slept on though ...

really easy to use and record with. of course it has flaws, but its def slept on

you just need an audio interface, then create a new audio track, set the input to your audio interface, and record..

the little "I" button in the lower right corner opens up many options and most settings you need to adjust

Garageband is a nice simple DAW and has everything you need for simple recording from the MPC.

There is one feature missing that might cause problems. Garageband doesn't support MIDI out for external devices. This means you can't do things like record 2 tracks from your MPC (say tracks 1 and 2) and then record 2 new tracks (tracks 3 and 4) while keeping everything in sync via MIDI.

Of course, if you have an audio interface with 6 inputs you can track all 6 of your MPCs outputs in at once.
