Samples that require gain adjustments during recording

A lot of samples i have been trying to record have a huge range in dynamics. As in a lot of music i have been listening to have really quiet (pianissimo) parts and really loud (fortissimo) parts which make it hard to find the right levels to record. I try to level it so the loud parts are right under peaking but then the quiet parts are too quiet. Vice versa, when i get the quiet parts at a decent level, the loud part then clips

While recording, I tried manually adjusting the levels using the mpc gain but any other suggestions? Im not the greatest human compressor.

use an actual compressor.

record the sample into a daw and use automation.

record the sample, separate the loud parts from the quiet parts, adjust each section individually.

Like cozy says.... just sample at optimum level then chop up sample then go to edit and use the normailze function. You can then say use 70% on the quiet bits to bring up their level, but still keep the dynamics of the parts. I have hardware compressors but dont ever use them to do that really as i can do it on MPC as above.

I run the turntable into dj mixer before mpc and just eq then record the sample multiple times with the eq settings i need. ie one pass with bass next pass no bass

Why don't u just record the highs first and adjust the gain
And record the lows second and adjust?
Idk what kind of sample ur dealing with but that should work
