Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

Hi guys,

Here's the gear I want to make the most of:
- MPC1000 (naster midi and audio)
- Mopho as bass synth
- Fast track ultra 6 inputs (audio/midi interface)
- Ableton live

The way I set it up now is as follows:

Mopho bassline synth slaved to mpc, Mopho audio tracked in mpc's rec in input thru.

MPC is tracking audio out to ableton live as follows:

- Stereo outputs: Drum, stereo percussions and bass (from mopho input thru)
- 1-2 outputs : main melodic samples
- 3-4 outputs : vocal samples/extras...

Once in ableton, I'll have 3 stereo tracks to play around with live. I don't want to have too many things to control. The idea is to have a nanoKontrol to, well, control ableton FXs live.

Now what would you suggest I add as FX in each track as well as the master track?

I know this is more of an ableton related question but I figured some might have a similar set-up with their mps. What would be the basics for you?
- compressor on bass/drums track?
- limiter on master?

If this doesn't inspire you no worries, I know this is a pretty vague and long question.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi guys,

Actually I'll finish this thread myself. I'll go back to only using the mpc stereo outs. All these crazy ableton effects are driving me nuts.

I'd rather spend more time on the machine itself and work around its limitations.

Back to basics: Mpc master with mopho slaved, mopho tracked in mpc's input thru and tons of 10-swedish-kronor-bin records.

BAM!

Have a nice weekend fellas.
