Yep!... You will need some kind of audio interface along with some kind of software for recording........As far as programs some audio interfaces come with a small version of software such as tascam, if you buy one of there interfaces it comes with a version of cubase........Search the internet and see whats cookin!........Oh yeah, before you purchase anything make sure your computer is fast enough to handle everything..........!

Have u heard of an Mbox? It allows u to use Protools the industry standard in professional recording. Do a google and check it out...its made for a laptop setup
