Compressing 2 separate kick tracks into one (as glue) in Pro

Usually I just google this stuff but i dont know how to phrase this simple enough to get anything from searching.

When i made my beat on my mpc i had a sub kick and another kick which i hi-passed because i liked the sound but it had a weak bottom. So I just put them on two seperate tracks and tracked them out into pro tools with two separate tracks also (playing at the same time). Now it sound ok but i feel like it could be better if i somehow "merge them"

In my head im seeing it as I have the 2 tracks, and somehow route the audio into an Aux In track with compression on it, and then have that resulting audio play instead of the audio from the original two tracks.

Know what i mean? I feel like its simple but i cant figure out exactly how itd be done

Hmmm... In all honesty it might not sound all that much better. That blending your talking about can be achieved by mixing. To get them to co-exist you might want to filter and EQ and after your done doing that you can route them to an aux and record them w/ small amount of compression on an Audio Track. Experiment my friend!

Well let me start off by saying that you should read up on the basics/fundamentals of Eq and Compression. There are alot of good readings and tutorials on the web.
But there are 2 techniques you can achieve what u are trying 2 do here(that i use).......
1.Proper Eq - cutting the freqs in one kick that clash with the other ie. set a hpf somewhere around 100 in the kick with the less bass. And set a lpf in the subby kick somewhere around 80-100. Then a cut or boost in each kick where needed.
1a. Then route both to a aux with a compressor inserted and adjust compressor to taste. Play with the compressor setttings til it just sounds right.(thats glueing the two kicks together).

2. Sidechain Compression - This method requires a compressor with a sidechain feature. I can't really go to far in depth on this one, because i don't use this technique too often. But there are some really good tutorials on this technique on Youtube.
