Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

Hey guys

Its been along time.....Just got my MPC back up and running after about 3 years of collecting dust and I'm loving life.

I picked up a presonus firebox off kijiji the other day so I would be able to record my beats and start to learn EQ and Compression etc....I have everything hooked up and am able to record as of now but I'm wondering what the best way to record my tracks seperately.

I was trying to do it by soloing each track and recording 8 bars but the problem is its not synced so the timing is off by a tiny bit on the different tracks. I am assuming that midi syncing is my solution but I am wondering.... if I midi sync can I just hit record on logic and it'll automatically start playing the mpc and record until I hit stop? is there a better way to do this?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks guys

Turn 'count in' for play ON. Now on every audio track you record to logic you have 1 bar of click before your track actually starts. Align each track according to the first click sound and delete 1 bar from every track. Profit!

I do all my mixing on the mpc. I cut the whole thing to a wav on the mpc. Sometimes I master the wav on my mpc but I usually copy the wav to my computer and master it there.

Good luck

same here..
