that reverb in older boom-bap moody joints

was a part of the sample? if not, i wonder if a 'classic' reverb unit for that trippy 'boom bap' ever existed. i've never seen anything on reverb units used in that kind of hiphop, everyone is talking only about the samplers most of the time.

it might be a delay and/or a reverb... who knows what they used though for that... check out some old school delays.. from digital ones or digital reverbs... and check some things out like the roland space echo. There are some sick videos of musicians such as violinists using the space echo...


you could also make your own delay manually with 16 levels velocity.

i'm pretty sure alchemist was using mainly just the ASR10 back then for his production... it's probably just the ASR's effects used there...

if he was using an asr, then the ensoniq dp/4 or dp/2 has the same effects.

To me this track got more delay than reverb on the samples. At least he vocal sample, the horn, the piano got delay. Since the DP2, DP4 (and therefore the ASR too) has high quality FX, he probably used it.
