I have had a 2000 now for almost 5 years. I keep hearing stories on how people's zip drives are crashing which causes me to wonder what will happen when mine decides to conk out. I guess it will be back to floppy transfers.

Do anybody use an external hd for the mpc?

I use it and love it but you got the same problems with them crashing too. You can lose alot more work with the Hard drive, so what I do is I back up the drive to another hard drive.

Yeah, all these zip drive problems people are having make me a little nervous too, though mines never given me any problems. I'm currently using an external zip and I just make sure to make a couple duplicate disks whenever I can.

I have a Iomega 250mb external zip and have used it for about a year and have had no problems. just make sure you have quality cables.
because cheap cables can cause errors when loading.

my 250 meg external zip failed awhile back, i'm just using floppies at the moment (which isn't actually that bad).
