BPM Suggestions

Iight... I guess this is the best place to post this... I got MC friends but I figured I'd take advice from here as well... I don't rhyme so I find that sometimes the BPM's of some of my beats are too slow or too fast...

Anyway I got this sample that's sorta like some Madvillain sh*t... Sorta like that song All Caps... Now I'm kinda unsure of whetehr to slow it down or not... Right now the BPM of the track is 110 BPM... Anyone think this is too fast???

I sometimes think stuff is too fast and then the few MCs I work wit tell me to leave it alone...

Any thoughts on this...

BOB was around that BPM. As you know big boi and dre had to pick up their flows for that track


for me though I don't really care. Aslong as the beat sounds tight

jay-z's encore is 107 bpm..i've made a beat once that was 112..it's certainly not too fast, just fast

Yea I mean I could picture flowin to it, but I think I might Time Strecth it anyway just to make it a little dirtier... Don't you just hate when you want a sample to be dirty but it's on some clean ass record... And yet when you want a clean jazzy sample it's always on some Dusty a$$ 45... Life's a

Give the sample to me and I will teim strecth it with serato pitch and time to any tempo you want with no chop.....

Its the greatest tool...

Tell me the orignal tempo and them what you want it at should take me a few seconds

It's iight I got a good pitch shifter... I'm actually counting on it not time stretching perfectly cause I like that little gappy timestrecth that ti gives you sometimes... Extra grit for the sample...

I slowed it down to 100BPM and re-sampled at 12 Bits and 27,500Hz... Should give me an edge to the sample...

THe Sp-303 has the exrta grit for time stretching...

I use pitch in time for all my remixs of my beats...

It has no aritfacts and you can slow down with no pitch change or speed up or change pitch etc..

I do some stupid shit

90-97 is always good for me sometimes I go up to 100 but that's it... when I first started I used to make beats in 75bpm lol.

mostly i go from 85bpm to 95bpm, of course i can fluctuate. like a down south type jam, im rockin around 75, but for my missy elliot remix that is was like 117.8 or somethin

some how i always end up around 89 - 92.

you can always make a slower bpm sound faster with a hihat and some groove to it. sometimes it depends on how your drums push each other.

96 is fast to me. you can always rhyme faster on a slow beat, but vice versa.........not so easy.

i recorded a song once at like 170.no lie, it didnt sound fast at all,( a lil speedy) itsa all how you program your sounds and drums into a song. when you have a beat with highe bpm use spareses placed sounds .

aww man - did you catch madvillain at bb kings in nyc back in april? when they started all caps, the place was going bananas.

definitely dont think 110 is too fast. doom's "I hear voices" is 112 and I think what makes it sound fast is when doom drop outs the main sample - at the end - around the line "...mostly for the women..." and brings it back.
some mcs are going to prefer certain tempos and may not be able to get down to everything you make, but try it at 110 and just see.

Good lookin, but I tried it and it sounded too fast for my liking...

I ended up at around 96 BPM when I was done...

As soon as I mix down the track I'll let you hear...

Seriously this beat reminds me of an old 60s TV or Cartoon theme... Really campy...

I work at double space alot too and sometimes my shit is 200.
