mpc 2500/tempest sync?

hello guys..

just got a tempest,,so would like to use it together with my mpc2500 (jjos) of course..my question is,,wich one should be the master here? are there any known sync issues?

some feature on the tempest only work if the sequencer is running (either as master or slave)..so using the tempest as sound module from the mpc doesn't really make sense..

what do you think?

Running the sequencer on the Tempest doesnt mean you have to actually use it. You could use the MPC2500 as MASTER and SLAVE the Tempest, while using it as a sound module for tempo synced effects/ features.

There have been reports floating around of sync issues with the Tempest but these issue *may* have been resolved with OS updates. The least you should do is ensure you have the latest OS and perhaps check the latest news at the DSI forums and GS where a lot of Tempest users voice their opinions.

Clint is right, but to answer what your asking bluntly. The mpc2500's sequencer is far superior to the tempest as of right now. But your right you can't use all the features of the tempest from the mpc. Which do you value more?

you can easily use use both. Ill have something simple on the tempest seq and trigger rolls and more complex changes from the mpc. 60 or 3k master to the tempest.

of course I preffer the mpc sequencer over the tempest..just want to find the way of make the most possible out of it...not exactly the cheapest of the drum machines..I found it can be a very cool add on to a mpc based set up.,.I would defently use it as a sound module from my mpc..but as I mention before some interesting features can only be used if its sequencer is running..

I checked and I have installed the latest o.s. ..will try some basic sequences between both machines and see how it goes..I have an evolver and I remember its sequencer didn't really synced well back then..I hope the tempest doesn't have the same problem,,otherwise there is no point in having such expensive machine if I can't use it fully with my mpc and the rest of the machines..

Ive synced it tons to stuff and had few issues. Though slaved to a 909 it gets all weird, not sync but lock ups. It's something the 909 is sending (I think when you clear patterns?) but it is good when not chained directly from the 909.
