Tempo Help?

This May be a dumb question but, don't care. when i want to find out a tempo for a certain track that somebody has done i'll usually dump it in cubase, press play and while it's playing try to guess the tempo on my mpc4000. when i think i got it i'll hit record play and see if the click matches. Now this method works, but sometimes it takes forever. i was just wondering if theres another way thats easier and works better. -Thanx

play the loop in the mpc and tap the tap tempo button to the rythm of the loop.... it should sync pretty close and then just fine adjust it until it loops correctly..... takes about 10 seconds

I have a question, why should you have to guess the tempo,you have a tap tempo feature in cubase and on the mpc? be moree specific at what you are trying to do.

What are you tapping against exactly with the tempo button? The hit of a snare, a kick?

the loop dont even have to be in the mpc, just hit the tap tempo button it says it right on it TAP TEMPO. and it will give a bpm.

yeah u can do that on the mpc but it is not always accurate.

I'm Saying, is there a way were you can dump a song or beat into some software or the mpc and it will tell what the exact tempo?

yes-> acid [only use it for that feature]

i dont know why if acid 1 can do it cubase or the mpc cant? new os maybe?

yeah loop it and go to parametres it will tell you the tempo there...

just get a beat counter 40 bones check vestax site ten count and wala there you have it.

Sample 1 bar of what you are trying to get a tempo reading on. Trim it to exactly 1 bar (loop back just before the 2nd bar begins). go to your edit screen, timestretch, bpm (soft key).... and it will give you the current bpm.

I've found this to be hella accurate.

Not necessary. Trim and discard one bar. Get a calculator.

10584000 / endpoint = bpm
