Some weeks ago I started with porting several tracks to my MPC. When starting it was quite hard to figure out how to bring 15 tracks into 128 MB of RAM but after converting the first one it felt quite easy. It's damn lot work to cut all samples, create midi sequences and setup everything in the MPC, but finally it's fun and sounds just awesome when adding the master compressor :)

Yesterday I gladly remembered that it's possible to load up 22 KHz samples, which saves memory and makes some samples sound even better. Man, I used that technique with my S2000 ten years ago and nowadays I forgot most memory-saving tricks.

So if anyone's in need of saving memory try converting samples (especially drums) to 22 KHz and maybe mono. For longer sounds, textures and not too much quality relying stuff you can also pitch the sample +12 or +24 semitones and then load it into the MPC which plays back with -12 or -24 semitones. Saves a lot of memory and can result in crazy sounds.

And yeah, it's also the first time that I used audiotracks (with JJOS), which works surprisingly smooth.

With memory being so big in these mpc's nowadays people don't bother with memory management. Still need it though as you know already. I remember managing everything inside my Asr10's 16 mb and never had problems once I figured that out. Chop the silence out of everything, down convert whatever you can that will still fit the vision, Only load up what you need and kill off everything else, mono everything unless stereo information in the sample is needed.
