Hi please can you give me some help im using reason as my sound module with my mpc the problem im having is i need more variation in my songs every beat i make seems to go in the same direction ive moved from software only to hardware sequencing and its difficult when you cant see the notes on screen so i cant edit like i used to but i love it set up like this and dont really want to change.

I need help on where to take a song and making it flow more dynamic and just general editing workflow i know how to operate the machine and can make ok beats but when you've made say a 8 bar loop where do you go next how can i edit parts to make things more exciting like cutting moving stuff like that please give me some tips because my beats are starting to sound repetitive and i want to love my mpc again like when i first got it its difficult to get any automation going the way ive got it set up too so its hard to make build ups and stuff thanks

There are so many things that can be done to make some variation.

The most simple one is just play something extra on top of it.

Make a break or drumfill at the 8th bar. It's a musical way of introducing another part in the song. Same with chord progression. Read up on that. With the right chord progression you can also tell the listener that another part of the song will be played. The hardest part is to make one part flow into another part of the song smoothly.

maybe i am overthinking it if anyone else has any more ideas or tips it would be great. Its like once i have a loop going like 8 bars how can i make a couple of 1 bars to add on without making a whole new sequence from scratch but keep with the song im making so it dont sound disjointed im just having a hard time piecing parts together and keeping all the tracks and everything the same on all sequences sorry if i dont make sense i know what i mean but its hard to put it into words
