Mixing solely in your mpc

no tracking into a DAW To mix......i been experimenting with mixing a whole track in the mpc by resampling sounds after i put the effect on it then doin that a few more times so i can use more than 2 fx ...........anybody doing this?

In JJOS2xl, I use some of the sample edit features like the bit crusher....as far as the actual track fx, I don't hardly ever use the mpcs fx....maybe a delay every blue moon but that's it....I let the computer take care of all that. The idea of mixing in my mpc1k is ..... I was introduced to the game by cats with hardware setups...I try to replicate those workflows by using my audio interface (10 inputs)/DAW like a live mix board with racks of fx and instruments. so no need to fool with the mpcs fx

Just started getting into the resampling for fx... It's not even that slow.

I'll often have a reverb and an EQ effect going.

The reverb can lead to cool effects by switching between an fx slot that has reverb and one that doesn't — turning it on and off to the sequence.

my go to FX are usually reverb and delay. LOVE using delay, its something that i use in just about all my work. reverb is a must obviously, just gotta watch out and not apply to much. usually this is what happens....i'll apply say,, 50% to my hats, then later on when im finishing the track up, i'll actually turn it down to 30-40%.

I mix in the MPC500 and the primary tools for mixing for me is panning and volume, without those features, its just a sampler. Pan and volume are the basic foundation of DAWs.

Occassional resampling for me though. I just create a long 99 bar sequence and overdub stuff as it builds. I mostly use the 4band EQ and some Grunger just to tint it.

Creating my whole album entirely in the MPC500. I've been creating those 99 bar sequences and directly recording my vocals over it. It becomes a lone acapella on a pad. Here's the treat; Since I'm doing vocals within the sampler, I can easily extract quotes from my rhymes and add delay effect on it so when the verse actually gets to the quote, you can have a trippy effect on the words.

The MPC can be a lone studio piece as long you got the proper preamps. I got one for the mic and one for sampling line-outs.

i use an asr-10 and with that you have to resample with fx

i pretty much mix the whole beat in the asr, then send each instrument through a compression unit and then do a bit more eq'n in a daw
