Is there kurzweil K2000 users here?

I have a kurzweil K2000 keyboard, which I was going to learn how to use, especially wanted to learn how to make patches (I'm not familiar with K2000 yet...)
My K2000, the LCD screen has lines on it, so I'm thinking about replacing it with the new screen unit.

Anyway, is there K2000 users here in MPC Forums? I'd like to know whether or not K2000 can do nice sound for baseline (like Yamaha TX81z, for instance, or nice analog sounding bass sound)

As far as I know from the presets, K2000 doesn't produce nice base sound, although some of the patches sound really good, like chorus leads.

Umm, I guess no one here use K2000...

i only use my K2000 for Bass, i took a sqare wave add a lowpass and dupicated that patch 3 times.

If you are looking for a good MIDI keyboard, then this is a good one. As far as hardware goes, K2000 is a really solid keyboard.
It's a heavy keyboard.

I think fair market value is around two hundred bucks, with good condition (although they seem to go higher on ebay)

By the way, the jog dial (rotary encoder) on K2000 feels really nice. I kind of wished that the same rotary encoder were used on MPC-2000XL (the size of K2000's encoder is larger than MPC-2000XL's, so it cannot be used on XL.)
K2000 is well known for the fact that Pink Floyd used it for tour.

Be prepared for some complex programming though as Kurzweil uses VAST technology for its synth engine.

If you can go for a 2500 or 2600 then all the better as the KDFX efx is quite good.

Stunningly versatile synth/sampler with extensive programming capabilities and a gorgeous sound.
If you're not going to sample with it then get one without the sample option. There are tons of 3rd party libraries out there as well.

See, I have to learn how to make patches on K2000. So far I only know the preset sound, and I wasn't impressed with any of bass sounds on K2000. I thought that leads and strings were really nice.

Floppy disk or SCSI devices are supported, but no IDE supports. So, I don't think I'll mess with samples with K2000.
And sampling capacity was option, so majority of K2000 keyboard don't have that option board installed.
But I think the best part of K2000 is synth engine, and most of waves (like sines, square, sawtooth, etc.) are already available in K2000.

K2000 V3 has the last OS ROM chip installed, so it is worth more than regular K2000, but any K2000 can be upgraded to the last released OS. The upgrade was basically for file management improvement (like MPC-2000 classic VS MPC-2000XL) and sequencer update. Prior to V3, the sequencer on K2000 was rather primitive, but V3 sequencer can sequence like MPC.
