Post your swing secrets.....

I use no swing on my hats, I make my kicks with a slight early swing and I like my snare to hit either late or early depending on the track.

I like my keys with no swing with the exception of the bass, I apply the same swing I use on the kick to the bass.

TimeCorrect set to OFF. Then, I play the music.

Also, it's a good practice to record longer patterns if you can play. You may surprised how much more you'll swing around over a 24-bar pattern VS a 4-bar pattern.

No standard settings or secrets here. Whatever fits the track. Sometimes I quantise my drums. Most of the time my snares with some shifted timing. But the rest of the stuff mostly with the timing correction turned off.

i just turn my drums to mono and use mute groups, so things don't overlap and just play stuff without quantize or TC... most of the time. the only times i don't is if im doing beats where i want my snare to be on point everytime and "snap". then i just play my hats and kicks and whatnot around my snare hits.

another thing is i'll layer my kicks and snares sometimes with my sample chops, so that they always hit at the same time. and i'll play out my hats for the duration of the beat... which seems like a long process, but not really after a lot of practice and considering acoustic drummers do it for hours, etc.

i almost always use TC though on 808 fast hats (like Trap style hats) and also on 808 snare rolls. because a lot of that is humanly impossible to do for 20-30 minutes a time at that speed and precision..

TC off and I play like a mad man til I get the results I want. I sometimes use the note shift too but most of the time just freestyle playing.

Same here mate... In fact I have a whole practice method I call precision sample arrangement. Which is basically shifting recorded events in step edit to get it as "in the pocket or tight" as possible. This goes for drums, bass, percussion, vox samples, sample flips etc.

i use the classic mpc swing .

swing? if i wanted to be a jazz musican i would have grown a goatee.

for snares and kicks I make 32 bar loops with quantize on triplets, hi hats I put on a 4 or 8 bar loop without quantize on to give it that snappy feeling

....my swing is on 60% standard...always...i'm afraid....

and the rest of the groove comes with the use of unaccurate cutted samples...

fooling around with sample starting points can give groove to anything...
