Perhaps someone can shed some light on this topic and give some good advice. So we have 180 degrees in a stereo image, and its good to place sounds all around them to avoid frequencies stacking on top of each other and to get a wider dynamic of sound.
Example: So you get your drums laid out and all tight, hats slightly paned to the left snare paned to the right kicks are centered with the bass and everything sounds good to your taste and the stereo field is wide.
My question is when sampling on top of your drums how do you determine how much of the stereo field is being used from the sample you chose and how much of that sample is going to sit well and not stack on top of, and disrupt the current stereo field, you cant always hear certain things at first. Is there a practical way to gauge or meter this?
