i dont know if you guys have seen this video, but theres a a video of dubsbanger(he has a profile on here) showing how he chops and layers his drums to get them knocking straight from breaks.

i was wondering if anyone could share what they do to drumbreak chops to get them knockin strictly with the mpc. his tutorial was dope and i use this technique, but maybe theres also others ways to do things?

layering the chops works great for me. you can get very good results by just adjusting the starting time on each sample, and then play with the levels. try to give charakter to a sound. of course, EQ is your friend. parallel compression can be very helpful aswell
