im colabbin wit this lady on a track i sent her my beat and she sent it back wit her verse on it and the whole waveform is off centered and looks higher in the the grid , but it sounds right,is this a problem and can it be fixed

one way is to tell her to send you the vocals (accapellas) instead of the whole thing put together so you can work with it yourself.

im not sure of too many other ways unless you convert the thing to mono then back to stereo but that would ruin the stereo effect that the track may have.

if your usin cool edit, you can raise what ever channel you want (left or right) a few decibels and maybe that will help.

not sure if normalizing would help the track, but worth a try.

im probably way off, but maybe one of these will work. hope this helps. :?

This is DC offset. The zero crossing of the waveform is off. This can cause distortion due to the waveform being higher on one side. It can also cause unexpected problems when you add effects. If nothing else , it can reduce your headroom. This is caused by mismatches between the sound card/AD converters and input devices etc. Most Audio editors have a fix for this. Just look for DC offset in your tools or process etc. menu on your audio editor.

MAYBE THE MPC HAS A DC OFFSET REMOVER.... I HAVEN'T CHECKED BUT THE EMU E6400 I HAVE HAS THIS FEATURE.
