Programming Mutes

Is it possible to program the mutes into a recording within the 1000? I know you can program mutes on the 200xl but what about the 1000? When you do this it gives you the ability to add breaks and pauses etc.... in a sequence.

Dre does every song with the mute pads.. He says in an interweiw what makes the dre programming me is all the drops I do on the pads..


Now why would the pads be lazy??
If I have an 8 out rec each track and I use the pads to mute certain sections while Iam rec so I dont have to do it later and it will automatically sync it...
I think thats called the advancement of technology not laziness

What do you mean lazy! I know many of cats that use that as a method rather than using song mode. Some people say they like the feel of controlling the breaks etc... rather than the mechanical feel of song mode. I think that cat from the heat makers was doing it in his vid posted all over the web. The shit is tight if you ask me, why the hell would Akai put this function on MPC's if they thought it would "Lazy".

i do it all the time i have my boy sit there with a pad and pen and then i call out what im muting so then i can rebuild the song in songmode with the drops and ish, so i can mulittrack it later. doin shit in song mode is a litle stagnent. i think track mute and next seq is a much more fluid and creative way of seq'in tracks.

Along time ago i took a page out of the neptunes book and now have found out that they are not the only ones who do this. Just record all your tracks into the computer if you have one and program your mutes in the software with automation or cutting out a section. This gives you the option to add or take aways what you dont need, while if you program a stuff to come on and off in the mpc and then record into software what happens if someone dont like where you made that mute at. your gona have to redo everything over again. Now on another note, the mpc and turn one sound off by hitting a different pad, so if yall was talking about that then im all for that but if your just tring to program real time mutes then do it later.

track the midiout of the mpc into a sequencer, save as midi and import back into the mpc as a sequence. then loop it.
