disguising

i got a sample , organ , but there is a kick n high hat sittin near da bottom of it. any ideas how to disguise the drums? puttin my own drum track ova it dont really cop it. i know cats like diamond d and hi tek have taken samples which arent clean , but still manage to just get a clean soundin sample, i know this cos i got da trak they sampled and there aint a clean break on it. one 4 u advanced heads.

What I have done, but this takes a long time, real long time so you have to really want the sample. But I have sampled little pieces throughout the album, even though there was n't a clean break, i trimed the pieces so they were all clean and then sequenced it to match the melody. I did it on a Boz scaggs track that had a melody that i really liked. I'll see if I still have the track and I'll post it later, its been like 6 months to a year since I did this. It took 4 hours to get it right.

You can probably filter out the hihat some in the MPC, but you'll probably need a better filter to get rid of the snare. You could always try what jaemac21 suggested.

you can also try this. you have the sample...save it to a floppy (that's why the floppy drive is still handy) load the sample in like say Soundforge/cool edit/wavelab use them filters en filter the shit. save it raw back to the floppy again. load into your mpc and trim/tune the thing fine like it's a normal MPC sample

unless you are going to loop the organ sample you should be able to get around the kick and snare. find the clean (no kick or snare) parts of the organ and use those and slice out the notes with the kick or snare and replace it with a clean chunk and repitch that accordingly. i have gotten pretty good results sometimes trying to get just the vocals from a song through a hardcore eq and phase cancellation session in soundforge. i didnt get the sample i wanted perfectly clean, but i got it good enoug to use.
