Production Software

Now that I have all my hardware, I need good software so can someone give some good input on Protools, Logic, Cubase, DP4 the list goes on and on.........Whatever you guys think is the best to lay down some tracks and at the same time able to make a mix cd.

what kind of computer?
what are the specs?
what is your multitrack experience?

That being said. I am partial to hardwaRE DAW's.

yeah live 4 is ill. i been usin that ish alot lately in tandem with the mpc.

I running pro tools and so far its been flawless on my pc......Very user friendly in my opinion.....!

ProTools or Cubase. I think ProTools is very easy to get to grips with at first. All of the buttons and screens just seem to be where you'd expect them to be, and it's all set up very logically (is that a word? ).

Cubase is not too bad either ( i use it myself now) but it looks a bit too fancy to be synoptic (that's a word, but i'm not sure it's the right one). I'm not too impressed with the midi-editor either, but i record midi on my mpc anyway.

Logic is very powerfull, but gives me migraines just by looking at it. I've never worked with Digital Performer, so i can't judge that.

it's very much a personal preference, i would try out some demo's if you can and then decide what's the best value for money.

I've checked out a bunch of them, and settled on Nuendo. It has all the cubase familiarity and more, plus with the 2 version it is almost the same as SX 2.

Pro-tools & Nuendo 2.0 is whats up!

But you cant go wrong with any of the programs you had mentioned

not saying live4 is better than cubase, sonar, logic, pro-tools etc but it is a different way of making music. actually, it will make you more productive and makes it easier to remix your own mix. i have used cubase since ver 1.5 and since i got live4 i have not open cubase since. check the demo and see for yourself.
