you probably just generate a sinewave under Tools -> Synthesis -> Simple. play around with sinewaves or square depending on the kind of bass tone you want. sine will be a pure deep tone and square and saw will be more dirty in your face bass. thats my guess at least im not sure of the link you are referring to.

oh and you can take a sine and square or saw tones generated with the same frequency and layer those up in the mpc then change up the attack and decay on each for even more fun. take all the decay off of one and all the attack off of the other. tune one or more of them down an octave (-120) and maybe filter down the sine wave pretty far so all thats left is the rumble. just expermint and have fun.

Were you ever able to find the link for the tutorial on making bass lines in Sound Forge?

It's real easy to do...

But I hate how these guys explain stuff. I mean, if you've really never had any experience with sine waves, it's impossible for you to understand what they're saying. Basically, they talk as if you should know. Low pass filters and cutting off all frequencies below 20hz? How am I supposed to know this. I loved the tutorial that Dj Dinger posted a link to. Gave you screen views of what to do (although I wasn't able to complete it due to the differences in version 6.0). It just irks me that I have wonderful programs like Soundforge and Stomper (which could obviously create any bass or drum sound I could imagine) and I have no idea of how to use them. I woulk like to figure out to maneuver these programs to get exactly what I want (as in knowing what function to adjust if I want a snare to have a metallic ring).

That's why I think I'm going to abandon my MP for a while and tinker with Cubase. Seems much more user friendly and I could just download a VST to cover whatever needs I have (drums, piano, etc.), rather than having to buy equipment or struggle over programs like Stomper or SoundForge.

If anyone can lead me in the direction of learning how to maneuver Stomper or SoundForge so as to create useful drums and bass sounds (not the techno sounding ones they give you in the tutorials I've seen), please do. Thanks.

Homie, grab a record for useful drums. D/L some stuff off the net, even. I mean, if you want chicken, you go out and buy a wing or whatever, not a rubber leg that looks like the real thing.
