what does programmed drums mean?

hey i new to this site and i hear programed drums hear a lot what does the term meanis it just a drum pattern recorded and loop in a seq.
also i never really tried to chop drums can someone explain the concept behind it why do it , to make a new seq. with the drum pattern already looped in the seq.

drum programming = chopped up/looped drums to make a sequence/creating bars of drum patterns/making a percussion sequence/arranging the drums of a track or song

Ever listen to a hip hop track?

Peep NWA's "**** the Police" for looped drums (a 'drum break' ("Funky Drummer")).

Peep a random Neptunes track for programmed drums.

Or check the chopping tutorial here.

It's really pretty easy to figure it out.

ok so programmed drums is just a fancy name for when i chop a break and make my own drums with the the chopped sounds

Sampled , chopped , looped , played , sounds about right to me.
