I figure everyone on here has probably tried this but,
when you are slicing a break slice out your individual drum hits (with multiple variations if you can) but also make some slices that still contain 2 sounds. like a kick snare that are close together or a double kick or a kick hat or snare then open hat, you get the drift. then play around with these as you are making your beats. they can add alot of variation, because they probably will not be the same tempo as your new beat. they can add alot of flavor and human feel to your ish and are alot of fun and challenging too sometimes. peace.
