any recommendations for how to use and select a midi port

i am wanting to use a outboard midi port , i am intrested in knowing on how this works and how to hook it up , what would be pros and cons of this peice in my studio heres an idea of what i have,:

mpc 2kxl
ef303 effects and tb sound modulator(in/out)
lexicon 100mpx effects(in/out/thru)
super bass station tb-bassline module(in/out/thru)
Edirol pcr-50 midi keyboard controller(in/out)

what would you recommend and how to hook it up in a daisy chain so everything would run in sync with one another.

I use a MOTU Midi Express XT w/ MPC3000, Emax II, Korg T3 and other stuff including Pro Tools.
