Is it possible to get the hoover synth sound, like in Mentasm by Joey Beltram, out of the mpc live 2?

If not is there a simple but good alternative to combine with the mpc?

Is that the crazy arp going on? If yes, I think you can with the plug-ins, fx on main out and q-link assignments. There's going to be some setup involved and it's not going to be quick.

No it's portamento and like 3-4 notes. Hard to tell because I have found a few versions of this song where some I swear were sampled chords and stabs. found the"original" mix and it's just simple synth programming prolly roland with the resonance on that filter and a lot of processing. Gonna need a poly synth with portamento and unison mode. Processing, external filters and delay and reverb.... Going to be tricky with tube synth. Your best bet is to sample the stab and mangle it like on most of the other versions,....

Not what I thought then. If possible on mpc that would be alot of processing.
Still can't zero in and find out what it is.

I meant the original mix btw which is pretty much a single tone with a “whammy bar”. From what i found i think it is from a Roland Juno 2, but i have no experience with synths.

It’s not that i want to sample the exact tone, but if i try to get a tone out of the mpc synth i mostly find myself looking for this hoover sound. I don’t mind fiddling around to find a tone, but it would really help if i knew it was possible at all.

If mpc synth would become to much of a hassle, is there any mini synth that you would recommendfor this in the price range up to 500?

So there I was, messing with my Kronos2, browsing synth defaults, "Hover Uni Bass" shows up, lol.

That “whammy” sound is the synth as it transitions between notes. Any synth with portemento/glide can do that.

TubeSynth:

The TubeSynth emulates the sound of classic vintage analog poly-synths packaged with five integrated AIR effects. The instrument is created by AIR and is based on the same advanced analog modelling technology found in their highly acclaimed desktop plugin synth Vacuum Pro. The layout has been carefully designed for easy tweak-ability via the MPC Q-Links. The TubeSynth comes packaged with a comprehensive factory library of cutting-edge presets including sumptuous pads, hard hitting plucks, thunderous basses and screaming lead sounds.

Flexible 3 Oscillator architecture features noise, saw, square, pulse and triangle waveforms.
Two different unison engines offer extended possibilities for thickening the timbre of any patch.
Users can customize the harmonic content of Oscillator 2 using the voice level EQ and Drive parameters.
Lowpass Filter with continuously variable slope with pre and post distortion.
Polyphonic Glide/Portamento for polyphonic pitch slides between chords.
Envelopes included for Filter, Amp with a third specialist ramp envelope that can be assigned to different modulation destinations.
Two LFO’s have Sine, Square, Saw Up, Saw Down, Pump, Sample and Hold and Drift waveforms.
Explore a wide range of timbral possibilities with the Oscillator’s Ring Modulation parameter.
AIR Chorus, Delay, Reverb, Compressor and Hype EQ.
Almost 300 patches provide a wide selection of Synth, Lead, Pluck, Pad, Bass, Organ, FX presets.
Oscillator 1 and 2 Env Shape parameter allows users to modulate the shape of each oscillator with the Filter Envelope

Tubesynth actually has all you need. Take a look at the presets they might even have a similar tone. Basically you’d want to stack some sawwaves, jack the portemento all the way up and play with note repeat or the arp to get that fast transition between the notes. That sound comes from a decent stride between the notes and the portemento transitioning between them so fast.
It’s going to take you a bit to dial that in but it’s not impossible. Play with portemento is the best starting point.

Yeah, it sounds like a supersaw with some lfo movement and glides.
I've heard this sound many times everywhere but never knew the name. "I learned today!"

There you go. Just try to map those parameters to the tubesynth if all else fails. I’m pretty sure they will have a close preset.

Thanks, this helped a lot. Took some time before i found out that portemento is the same as glide, but i understand how it works now. Only thing is that if i want to replicate the tone the lower and higher notes are on different pad banks on the mpc. So i think i’m still going to need a midi keyboard.

there are countless sites with instructions on how to make the alpha Juno hoover sound.

humans resources did it best with..."I'm bigger, I'm bolder, I'm rougher, I'm tougher, I'm the one and only dominator". always a guaranteed dancefloor filler.

I think i found most of the sites but the instructions are not 1:1 transferable to mpc. So as a beginner i find it pretty hard to finetune the sound. I come close but not close enough.

There is a hoover bass on tube synth its called smooth uni, just seen it tonight.

I said it before. TubeSynth, Electric and Bassline aren't the greatest, but, there is alot of life in those plugins. If you just take time to tweak and get out of the mindset of being instantly satisfied with defaults.
Electric actually does a good virtual Rhodes imo.

DrumSynth, mess with it enough and you’ll get virtual analog, not the greatest, but, very doable.

Bassline, sometimes goes/drifts off key for me but I keep at it.
