SOFTWARE - STEM separation tools – vocals, drums per attack MAG

Articles like this remind me why ATTACK mag stays in my browser bookmarks. I’m not into expensive software but I may have to reconsider. I don’t think the MPC will ever be this good; Hardware has its limitations. At $99, ripX is not gonna break me & its desktop-based [instead of cloud]. I haven’t had much luck with my MPC LIVE’s isolator tools. My default template has the AIR KILLEQ on the master output but that’s more of a DJ FX than a stem creator. Am I missing something ?

This is definitely key if you want do unique DJ blends . . . . .

$350 - VSOP

this music cloud software trend totally misses me ;-(. The only music cloud software I’ve considered is SPLICE & soundcloud.

I still like filtering out basslines & chopping drum loops but this is something else.

For AI-assisted stem separation you could use freeware tools online. They are no magic tools and far from perfect, but at least some relevant features are free.

You could use Spleeter by Deezer, or Splitter AI. Personally, I never used Spleeter, but it was a recent suggestion from a buddy; Splitter AI is alright, but quirky for larger arrangements.

The proof is in the pudding.
The drum extract samples sound almost 2 perfect, you have to wonder if they cheated & just go the STEMS ;-)

I think the sweet spot is using it with MPC software & then loading the project into an MPC hardware.

These dudes are LINUX cool; They support raspberry PI

at only $50, the main stopping me is that I have to go back to my laptop. I’ve been trying to avoid that thing as much as possible.

I don't see a difference. Especially nowadays. The MPC is nothing more than software that runs on a hardware box with buttons and an AKAI lable on it. I don't think they used specifically engineered components for it. You probably could run games on a MPC Live :)

I don't see a reason why AKAI could not implement such a feature other than ....they don't want to because of no demand (or not enough), too expensive to put people on this task.
