If you work without outboard gear I recommend the session you do your masters as 24/96. That way when you need to render to a lesser 24 bit quality the low end and high end information carries over.

This video is a good primer for people looking to start. The only way to get good at mixing and mastering is keep practicing and understanding all of the changes you’ve made.

Now I’m on the « dither » section of the video. It doesn’t matter which one you pick because your ears get used to the dithering practice. Pick one dither type and commit to using it in all your renders. If you switch dither types often you may fool your ears into thinking something is wrong with the track but it really isn’t.
